As a senior, we’re expected to have everything planned. We are pressured to know everything. Pressured by our parents, our teachers, our leaders. I personally know this pressure is there, as my mother is pressuring me to go to a certain college. I got accepted to MSU, which should be super exciting, but she’s been bumming me out. I feel pressured to go there, like I have an obligation to her to go to this college.
You have to make sure that you do something for yourself. Whether it is college, a job, living somewhere, doing your hair a certain way, or whatever. Whatever you choose needs to be a decision for yourself.
Some people take pressure well but others don’t. The thing is, though, that they aren’t trying to pressure you. They aren’t trying to scare you or hurt you. They think they’re helping you, that their opinion is helpful to you. If it becomes a problem with you, if it does start to hurt, if you end your days crying from stress, if you start to wonder why you’re doing it, you have to tell them. You have to tell them that it’s your choice, and that yes, their opinion matters, but it’s your decision. Overall, at the end of the day, it’s your choice.
Finally, hug it out.
